Editorial policy
Made Me Buy It uses an automated research system supervised by editorial rules that are enforced in software, not just promised in prose. The rules that matter most:
- No fabricated testing. Articles cannot claim first-hand testing unless a product's record explicitly says we tested it. Our quality gate blocks phrases like "we tested" on untested products before publication.
- Evidence-backed claims. Factual statements must trace to stored evidence — a specific creator claim, manufacturer data, or retailer listing. Statements that fail fact-checking block publication.
- Negative verdicts are required, not tolerated. If the evidence says a product is overhyped, the article says so. Every review names who should skip the product.
- Rankings have a methodology. "Best" means a weighted score across reviewer sentiment, evidence depth, value signals, trend momentum, and editorial assessment — published on every list.
- No fabricated ratings. Our score is our own editorial score, computed from evidence. We never republish or invent customer star ratings, review counts, or prices.
- Affiliate links never shape verdicts. The verdict is written before monetization is attached, and disclosure appears wherever affiliate links do.
Articles are refreshed when the underlying evidence changes; every published change is versioned internally.
